Irondequoit's doctors are treating a patient suspected of having a measles case after an adult entered the Riedman Wellness Center at the Rochester Regional Health Regional Health Center on Wednesday.

Health officials said the man had gone to the center of Kings Highway around 11:30 am with measles-like symptoms, including fever and rashes. The patient was immediately quarantined, while the other patients were removed from the area, which was then rehabilitated.

Part of the center was also closed for one hour as a precautionary measure.

It is unclear whether this man has not been vaccinated or not, but Rochester regional health officials say they have established a protocol following the measles outbreak in Down County.

"We are more aware of what is happening in New York," Steven Schulz said. "Fortunately, there has been no outbreak at this point here in Monroe County, only a few isolated cases that have been controlled, but we are in a state of alert just because of displacements and proximity "

A sample of the patient will now be sent to the New York State Department of Health to confirm if there is a case of measles. It could take 3-4 days for results.
