FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced the acquisition of defensive lineman Michael Bennett as part of a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. The terms of the exchange have not been announced.

Bennett, 33, is a 10-year veteran of the NFL with Tampa Bay (2009-12), Seattle (2013-17) and Philadelphia (2018). He had made his NFL debut as a rookie free agent with Seattle on April 26, 2009, from Texas A & M. The 6-foot-4, 274-pound athlete played 141 regular-season games with 100 starts and totaled 327 tackles, 63 sacks, six defended passes, 10 forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He also competed in 12 playoff contests with 10 starts and 43 starts, four and a half sacks, four defending passes, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Bennett has been a member of the Seattle Seahawks, Super Bowl XLVIII and 2014 champions.

Bennett trained the 53-man rookie squad in Seattle, but was released in October and requested waivers from Tampa Bay. After four seasons with the Buccaneers, he signed with Seattle as an unrestricted free agent. Bennett was traded from Seattle to Philadelphia on March 13, 2018.

Last season with the Eagles, Bennett played in all 16 regular season games with 10 starts and 34 tackles. He finished second on the team with nine sacks, got a pass and forced two fumbles. He also played in both Philadelphia playoffs and played seven tackles and one sack.
