Paul McCartney invited a special guest to join him on the final leg of his Freshen Up tour at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday night: his former band member Ringo Starr.

"We have a surprise for us, a surprise for you, a surprise for everyone," said McCartney. "Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only Ringo Starr."

McCartney and Starr, the last surviving Beatles, kissed each other on stage. A sleek drum kit was developed for Starr before the band got into two Fab Four classics, "Sgt Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)" and "Helter Skelter".

The crowd exploded with enthusiasm. Some fans tore and others seemed not to believe their eyes. One participant could be heard saying, "I knew Ringo was in town, I was hoping!"

It seemed like thousands of little jewels lit up the stadium as spectators took out their phones to document the moment.

Although their common appearance was rare, this is not the first time that the two former Beatles have been performing together in recent years. They teamed up with the Grammys in 2014.
McCartney The whole evening had been cheerful, evoking his return to Dodger Stadium, where the Beatles were playing what would become their penultimate concert in August 1966.

Starr was not the only guest to make an appearance. Joe Walsh, of the Eagles fame, also joined McCartney to complete the Beatles' "Abbey Road" concert with The End.
