In the new non-Eli Manning-Daniel Jones, a former ex-giant running back is going from the front.

Paul Perkins was claimed by the Detroit Lions on Tuesday, his new team announced, one day after being raised by Big Blue.

The 24-year-old was inactive for both Giants defeats this season.

Perkins leaves a Giants team that underwent a major metamorphosis on Tuesday. The rookie announcement, Daniel Jones, will replace Eli Manning as the new starting quarterback.

Perkins never came out ahead of the Giants after being selected in the fifth round of the 2016 draft and became a reflection after Saquon Barkley's arrival in 2018.

Perkins has spent the entire 2018 season on the list of injured reserve and non-footballer after he's torn the pectoral muscle by lifting himself up. He has accumulated 546 yards in 153 runs (3.6 yards per attempt) with no touchdown in 25 games in two seasons.

The Giants claimed a tight fifth end – Kaden Smith of the 49ers – with Perkins left behind.

Perkins will likely be the third running back in Detroit, resulting in the loss of veteran C. J. Anderson.
