Pep Guardiola believes that the historic national tripling of Manchester City is more successful than winning the Champions League.

City beaten in Watford 6-0 to lift the FA Cup at Wembley, completing an unprecedented trio of ruthless trophies.

Guardiola had targeted a quad, but City had been eliminated from the quarterfinals of the Champions League by Tottenham.

But with the FA Cup in the bag alongside the Premier League and the Carabao Cup, boss Guardiola thinks that City's steadiness in winning a record 50 matches in a single season has more weight than his conquest of Europe.

"It's one of the best seasons I've had as a manager," said Guardiola. "I would not say the best but one of the best for sure.

"Being first to win the triple means that if one team is able to do it, another team will repeat it sooner or later.

"But we were first and that means consistency every day for 10 months.

"I like the Champions League, but it's more difficult than winning the Champions League."
