The situation of the governor of Tacna, Omar Jiménez Flores, is complicated. The Attorney General today asked the judiciary to order the 18-month pre-trial detention of the regional authority, for allegedly leading the group Los Limpios de Tacna, dedicated to land traffic.
Omar Jiménez, arrested last Friday at the airport of Ciudad Heroica, the prosecutor investigates the alleged crimes of criminal organization, passive bribery and collusion.
Tax Ludwing Flores Valdivia asked the imprisonment of the governor under the argument that there are serious indications that he had irregularitiesand because it could escape because of serious charges and could hinder investigations by taking advantage of its political power.
The assumption of the prosecutor is that Jiménez would have received, illegitimately, 400 000 soles leaders of the Los Chaskis I Association, in exchange for 20 hectares of land in the El Bosque sector.
The telephone intercepts that brought alleged members of "Los Limpios de Tacna" revealed conversations between Alfredo Chamorro and Milton Reynoso, leaders of Los Chaskis I, in which they spoke of the payment to the governor.
DEFENSE REJECTS TESTS
Eloy Llanos, the governor's lawyer, said that there was not enough evidence to determine the commission of crimes. He claimed that they had collaborated in the investigations and did not object to the seizure of property.
The former mayor of Tacna and candidate for governor of the region, Luis Torres, as well as mayor Jorge Infantas, also participated in the criminal organization. 8 municipal councilors, 3 civil servants and 9 leaders.
