In the first 2008 standard, 8 parking lots were authorized for taxis; while in 2010, there were 21 parking lots, although 65 parking spaces were demarcated in practice.

A few days ago, the LAP operator stated – in a statement – that this problem meant that only 50% of the two-lane highway was occupied.

The agreement on the release of the passenger and congestion problem on Faucett Avenue, next to the airport, was discussed at the Executive Board of Tourism.

Contract pending
According to the director of urban transport of the Provincial Municipality of Callao, José Danos, told Gestión.pe that four contracts had already expired and their renewal was pending; however, based on previous reports, the renewal was refused.

"The companies appealed the decision, but the municipality of Callao has already made a decision on this point," he said.

Regarding the current contract with Airport Taxi Peru, he said that this agreement expires in February 2019 and that the viability of its continuity would be determined.

"With that, out of the 21 authorized car parks, only four should be occupied, the rest should be free," he said.

José Danos mentioned that, although the company has 40 units, it should only have the four authorized sites and no other.

PNP and LAP
The municipality of Callao will meet the representatives of the National Police (PNP) and LAP today, with whom they will coordinate the inspection process.

On behalf of the municipality of Callao organized the delivery of the number of plates of the authorized units, which will facilitate the entry of the units.

Thus, with highways, passengers can reach the terminal of Callao, with taxis or private units, without staying longer than necessary or use it as a park.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Jorge Chávez international airport welcomed more than 11 million passengers in 2017 (5.43 for international flights and 5.62 for domestic trips).
