Members of the national police arrested this morning the mayor of the province of Chiclayo, in coordination with the prosecution. David Cornejo, in a mega-operation conducted in the northern city.
The bourgmestre is the subject of an investigation for crimes of corruption and collusion and for presiding at the head of the criminal organization "Los Temerarios del Crimen". Against him, there is a ten-day pretrial detention.
In the current operation, 10 alleged members of this group were arrested, informed the correspondent RPP News in the zone. However, there is a warrant for at least 20 people.
Among the people involved, there would be the mayor's brother, Noah Cornejo, Councilor Juan Carlos Pérez Bautista, as well as other advisers, directors and assistant directors.
The mega-operation includes the search for a number of homes still undetermined and the municipality of Chiclayo.
