Minsa: doctors comply with national strike and demand salary improvements | Lima

The Peruvian Medical Federation accept a 48 hour strike nationwide today and tomorrow to demand the Ministry of Health (Minsa) respect the signed minutes of the suspension of the 2017 doctors' strike. Professionals are calling for salary improvements and appointments.

Dr. Danilo Salazar Oré, President of the Medical Federation, announced that this protest would be accepted by the 23 thousand grouped doctors from Minsa. In addition, they add about 2,000 doctors who belong to the National Penitentiary Institute (Inpe), the Armed Forces and those working at the Ministry of Education, among other institutions.

REQUIREMENTS

The first point is that they require a budget for the Minsa not less than 0.5% of GDP to cover the needs for medicines, supplies, infrastructure and human resources.

"We currently have a small budget compared to the health sector in other Latin American countries," he said.

He also added that they require the publication of the modification of the complementary services for which doctors perform paid overtime.

Salazar Oré explained that this proposal had been rejected by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). despite the fact that the observations have been corrected.
