Pedro Chávarry asks to challenge the president of CAL's Ethics Council | Politics

The prosecutor of the nation, Pedro Chávarry, presented last Wednesday before the Lima Bar Association (CAL) a petition for recusation against Walter Ayala Gonzales, chairman of the union's ethics board.

As is known, the Ethics Council – chaired by Ayala – admitted earlier this month a complaint lodged by a group of representatives of civil organizations against Chávarry, initiating disciplinary proceedings.

The National Coordinator of Human Rights (CNDDHH), the National Association of Centers (ANC), the General Confederation of Workers of Peru (CGTP) and the Institute of Legal Defense (IDL) have stated in the complaint that Pedro Chávarry had violated the code of ethics of the lawyer lied about his relations with the former Supreme Court judge, César Hinostroza, and his alleged relationship with the alleged criminal organization Los Cuellos Blancos del Puerto.

Civil society organizations have also asked CAL to take a precautionary measure – as they did with Hinostroza and former members of the National Council of the Judiciary (CNM) – Guido Aguila, Iván Noguera and Julio Gutiérrez Pebe – courses of the public prosecutor, as long as the investigation against him in the guild lasts.

In his application, Pedro Chávarry states that Ayala has issued an advanced opinion on the conclusion of a sanction against him, "undermining my right to dispose of an impartial tribunal and, far from defending the interests of the union members, of the law and of justice, all my suspension cost, which suggests a marked animosity and persecution towards me and shows hostility towards the undersigned ".

He states in this line that Ayala, in his statements to the media, "made an advanced conclusion regarding the result as deserving" definitive expulsion "".

In this regard, Ayala told El Comercio that he had not reviewed Pedro Chávarry's letter. However, he assured that he had not advanced any opinion on the case. "In the interviews I gave, I did not say anything about the underlying problem, I always talked about generic problems," he said.

According to him, the court of honor of the CAL will have to regulate the request of Chávarry against it.
