A few days ago, Cofepris announced that licenses for the public sale in Mexico of 38 products containing cannabis were approved. So far, there are 51 applications and the others are in the evaluation phase. This new brand has a clear tendency to open to medical cannabis, especially CBD or cannabidiol (on this potent therapeutic element of cannabis, you can read this article).

All licenses granted were for products containing less than 1% THC, a component associated with the psychotropic effects of marijuana.

The following companies have been licensed: CBD Life, CBD Science, Endo Natural Labs and Magisterial Pharmacies, Med Mex and Organic Oils of America (US Capital), and Spanish company Finat Mexico.

It is composed of 21 food supplements, 9 cosmetics, 6 foods and 2 raw materials. These products include applications such as fruit jelly candies, lemonades, soothing balms, hemp oil capsules, ball deodorants and calcium capsules.

Commissioner Julio Sánchez told the BBC: "The only thing that carries THC is Omega-3 capsules containing one milligram per unit," a non-psychotropic amount.

It must be said that, although there are indications that CBD has significant relaxing effects and various therapeutic applications, experts point out that the amount of CBD these products tend to have, which are not strictly complements manufactured as drugs, but in CBD is only an additional ingredient, it is not enough that they have important medicinal effects. Although, on the other hand, the cosmetic application of the CBD is also defended by many enthusiasts.

It is expected that applications for the registration of cannabis drugs will be filed in the coming months.
