Duane Brown hasn’t trained once with the Seattle Seahawks since training camp began in July.

Still, head coach Pete Carroll was confident Brown will be the team’s left tackle when the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts on September 12.

“I’m counting on him,” Carroll said. “I’m counting on him to be ready.

Brown didn’t train because he “made a statement” about his current contract with the Seahawks. He has a year left on his current contract and wants a little more security and from the team.

But while Brown hasn’t worked out in the month, Carroll said he’s doing just about everything else.

“He’s been on everything,” Carroll said. “He trained, he participated in all the tasks, he took all these reps, he did all the meetings, everything, actively participates in it all.”

Carroll has been confident throughout training camp that Brown will be on the field for the opener against the Colts despite his seated practices. This thought process has not changed with just 10 days of the start of the season.
