Funding from the encyclopedia of grants
A grant of $ 82,474 from the National Endowment for the Humanities will support The Arkansas Encyclopedia at the Central Arkansas Library System, according to a recent press release from the Libraries System.
The money is part of $ 87.8 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding that will be distributed to various cultural and educational entities by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
“We have seen our usage increase dramatically during the pandemic as students and teachers have had to turn even more to online resources for Arkansas history,” the encyclopedia editor said, Guy Lancaster, in a statement included in the press release issued Thursday.
“It really made us realize how the Arkansas Encyclopedia has served as a force for democratization, making available to anyone with an Internet connection information that previously was only found in yellowed newspapers. or local archives, “he added.
The funding will provide salary support for the encyclopedia’s staff historian, as well as allowances for contributors and money for web upgrades, according to the press release.
Officials to describe event resources
The Town of Little Rock will hold a press conference at 10 am Monday to detail the programs and services that will be available during “Rights After Wrongs,” a one-day event scheduled for Saturday.
According to a press release, Rights After Wrongs “is an event designed to provide resources and support to those convicted of crime.”
Attendees at the press conference will include the city’s chief equity officer, Dionne Jackson; Leta Anthony, president of the Central Arkansas ReEntry Coalition; and Jonathan Hutto of the Center for Arkansas Legal Services.
