A Philadelphia animal shelter temporarily suspends adoptions and most of the supplies from upper respiratory tract infections in a number of dogs, some of them resulting in death.
The Animal Protection and Control Team in Philadelphia has stated that new dogs delivered by their owners will not be accepted until two weeks after Saturday, with the exception of animals that pose a risk to public safety, sick or suffering, in both cases requiring euthanasia.
The shelter tries to build a space away from the general population for some stray dogs and will try to quickly transfer them to rescue if no owner claims them.
Officials said the tests had excluded some major viral infections such as the distemper virus and the canine flu virus, but they still did not know what they were facing.
