Philadelphia meteorologist Adam Joseph warns others after children family test positive for COVID

PHILADELPHIA – Meteorologist Adam Joseph from our sister station WPVI in Philadelphia speaks out and warns others about the coronavirus after his children and others close to him were recently infected with the virus.

Adam is first and foremost a father, and these last few days have been very difficult.

“Our number one job is to protect our children and we did that until a week and a half ago,” he said in an interview with WPVI presenter Sharrie Williams. “Thinking that we maybe – that we slipped, that we did that – I know we’re good parents, but it’s hard to swallow.”

Adam invited a close family member to stay with them. The loved one has not been vaccinated against COVID-19. So the invitation came with a stipulation.

“You can come here but you have to take a COVID test. They did and it was negative,” he recalled.

But 48 hours later, the visiting parent fell very ill and eventually tested positive for COVID-19.

Two days later, Jacob, Adam’s 6-year-old son, had a fever and chills. Adam’s daughter, Hannah, then started to cough. Both children tested positive for COVID-19 soon after.

And the virus has also spread to a babysitter who also watches over Adam’s children and his family.

“As a parent, it’s scary to see your child asking, ‘Dad, what’s wrong? Why am I having chills? Can you give me a hug?’” Said Adam on his children.

Her children are feeling better, but some of the others infected with the virus are still seriously ill.
Adam wants to emphasize the message to avoid children under 12 and to take the necessary precautions if you are not vaccinated:

“Please if you are not vaccinated don’t go around 12 year olds they are so vulnerable right now. They do not have the choice to be vaccinated. At this point we need to protect our children and make sure they stay healthy because this Delta variant affects children. This new Delta variant also affects people who have been vaccinated … It’s everyone’s choice, we are all adults, whether we want to get vaccinated or not. I’m not here to push this. I’m just asking you – begging you – if you are not vaccinated, to wear a mask wherever you go in public, even if it is not mandatory – it is for people who have been vaccinated. “
