Fifteen Chinese nationals involved in illegal online gambling activities were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during two separate operations in Manila and Pampanga.

Pan Jianbei, Pan Taiyuan, Jie Lu, Shengbo Zhang and Jian Lou Zhou were arrested in Manila on November 22nd.

Those arrested at Angeles City in Pampanga on November 21 were Yu Shize, Lin Hai Yang, Li Jun Qing, Yu Wen Quian, Xiao Wen Lao, Cai Shui Rong, Lin Jingming, Ju Shi Lin, Qiu Zai Wei, and Xiao Jian Ze. .

NBI director Dante Gierran said that the suspects were facing a complaint of violation of Presidential Decree 1602, the illegal anti-gambling law, in connection with the Republic Act 10175, the Law on the Prevention of cybercriminality.

The five Chinese nationals were arrested following the execution of a search warrant by the BNI's Cybercrime Division (CCD) inside a condominium in Malate, Manila, following complaints from foreign residents in the area.

NBI agents seized mobile WiFi condominium units, routers, passport copies, single-use passport devices, smartphones, laptops and desktops.

The operation in Angeles City was based on a complaint filed against illegal online gambling by a man named Li Kun Ling in the Punta Verde subdivision.

The NBI-CCD was also able to obtain a search warrant and conducted the operation at the residence of the Chinese national who was not on site.

In addition to arresting the 10 Chinese nationals, agents also seized home computers, smartphones, SIM cards, a router, a WiFi connector and a brush machine.

According to the NBI, the suspects have not obtained the necessary permissions to operate an online gambling business.
