The Irish developer Terry Cavanagh, from the group "VVVVVV" and the challenge "Super Hexagon", is preparing to launch his next project of scale in August.

"Dicey Dungeons" is about beating the odds, task easier said than done for dice on legs.

As a six-faced warrior, witch, thief, robot, buffoon or inventor, the idea is to reach the end of a race in a dungeon to outdo Lady Luck herself.

Procedural generation means that the layout of each dungeon is different, which adds another difficulty to the unpredictability of playing as a random number generator.

The game has been in active development on Itch.io for over a year. It will be available in 14 languages including English, German, French and Spanish, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Korean, Portuguese Main Dialects and Turkish.

"Dicey Dungeons" debuted on Mac, PC and Linux systems, with past performance suggesting that it could also land on other platforms.

After all, the previous hit "VVVVVV" was released on mobile consoles, Nintendo consoles and PlayStation, and was even reissued on the Nintendo Switch seven years after its first launch. RGA / JB
