PBA D-League: Batangas-EAC fights for gold at the buzzer

MANILA, Philippines – Batangas College-Emilio Aguinaldo (EAC) began the setbacks of the Go for Gold program, while the Generals inflicted on the Scratchers a stunning setback of 87-85 in 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Cyrus Tabi scored the winning goal against the Generals, while they remained looking for a place in the playoffs record at an even 3-3.

"I did not expect it, knowing that na Go for Gold is very strong individually," acknowledged Batangas-EAC coach Oliver Bunyi. "I think we're lucky to have that one."

Michael Mabulac shone for Batangas-EAC, finishing with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds.

He played James Martinez, which allowed Clark Bautista to find Tabi in transition for the game.

It was an impressive performance for the Generals, who recorded up to 11 points and 65-75, in the beginning of the last period.

Bautista scored 16 points and caught seven boards for Batangas-EAC, while Tabi finished with 13.

Kris Porter had 22 points and six boards in a lost effort for Go for Gold, who now has a record of 4 wins and 2 losses.

Martinez and Ron Dennison combined to score 24 points.
