MADISONVILLE, Ky. – Frank Ramsey, an All-American in Kentucky and a member of seven NBA championship teams with the Boston Celtics, is dead Sunday. . He was 86 years old.
The death of Ramsey was announced by Kentucky, where he was part of the Wildcats Nationals team in 1951 and three times All-American. The school says that he died of natural causes.
The 6-foot-3 goalie was selected by the Celtics in the first round of the NBA Draft in 1953 and began his professional career a year later. He averaged two digits in eight of his nine seasons and 13.4 points per game for his career. His jersey number 23 was retired by Boston
