CULVER CITY, Calif. – Hundreds of fans hoping to see the new Laker LeBron James of Los Angeles Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) had to settle for free pizzas instead.
James was a no-show at the Blaze Pizza outlet in Culver City, California. The NBA superstar tweeted a day earlier about a "pizza party" on the spot and fans hoped it was a clue that he could attend.
James is an investor in the pizza chain. Blaze donated pizzas to southern California for three hours to celebrate his move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Lakers, which was formalized Monday.
The first online fan at the Culver City store, Janet Raines, arrived: 30 hours and waited for hours.
