The Beermen bounces from a stellar 28 points in the first game to equal the best-of-seven final series of the PBA
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – San Miguel could not have staged a better repurchase history against Barangay Ginebra by leveling the finals of the 2018 PBA Common Cup at 1-1.
The Beermen – who absorbed an embarrassing 28-point game in the first game – toppled the tides and wiped out the Gin Kings, 134-109, in the second game of the 7-game against a huge crowd at the Araneta Coliseum. Sunday, July 29th.
After being limited to 5 points in the first game, Alex Cabagnot was scooped and scored 33 career points with 9 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 interceptions.
San Miguel moved to a 75-46 halftime thanks to 22 points in Cabagnot's first half and did not look back since Ginebra only managed to reduce his deficit to 19 points .
This was not just Cabagnot 's show, however, since 5 of his teammates missed double digits – with 4 of them scrapping by at least 20 points.
June Mar Fajardo approached the paint with 25 points and 8 rebounds, Renaldo Balkman scored 20 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists, while Christian Standhardinger scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Marcio Lassiter 20 points and 5 assists and Santos, who was sent off in the middle of the fourth quarter for nudging Scottie Thompson in his chest, added 14 points, 4 assists and two interceptions in the victory.
Justin Brownlee managed a performance far from his 42-point blast in the opening game, but still finished with 29 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 interceptions to lead 5 other Ginebra double-digit players.
Thompson and Joe Devance produced 16 points each and had 13 rebounds and 10 assists, while Greg Slaughter and LA Tenorio added 15 and 13 points respectively in the effort lost.
The second match will take place on Wednesday August 1 at the same place
