7 policemen from Las Piñas in a case of abduction and extortion
Seven police officers from Las Piñas accused of kidnapping an alleged drug suspect went to the NCRPO police office on Thursday, an official said.
Police officers 1, Erickson Rivera, Mark Jefferson Fulgencio, Jeffrey Leon, Raymart Gomez; M 2 Jayson Arellano, Vener Guanlao; and M3, Joel Lupig, went to the NCRPO office at Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, Subcapital. Eliseo Cruz, director of the Southern Police District, said.
PO Rivera met Wednesday evening with the Chief Superintendent. Ruel de Leon, Chief of the NCRPO Regional Intelligence Unit.
Cruz stated that the remaining six officers felt that they had no choice but to surrender as well.
Lawmen were accused of kidnapping Cyrus Ligutan last week, a presumed race boy for rogue policemen.
Ligutan tagged the men responsible for the theft-extortion.
Abduction, extortion
Shelane Ligutan, Cyrus's sister, previously said that an anonymous caller had asked for 200,000 Pakistani pesos in return for the release of his brother or the degradation of his drug record.
Shelane, who resides in Cavite, said that he had been told to go to a place located at C5-Kabihasnan, in Parañaque, to hand over the money. She asked the help of the police who trapped.
She said that when she arrived at the venue, it was a 13-year-old girl who faced her to get the money. Lupig, Guanlao, Fulgencio and Leon immediately seized the minor and their accomplices escaped aboard a dark gray Isuzu Hi-lander.
The NCRPO chief, Guillermo Eleazar, has reported the police to Las Piñas, the chief superintendent. Marion Balonglong and 36 other people belonging to the anti-drug units of the station (SDEU).
The 36 staff members of the SDEU were transferred to the District Personnel and Premises Administration Section.
Balonglong resigned from his post and said that he felt betrayed by his people as he always reminded them not to engage in illegal activities.
