A young Scottish boy wrote a letter to his father in paradise.

Giving Royal Mail the delivery without a specific address or seal, Jase, seven, asked, "Can you take this to heaven for my father's birthday?"

Teri Copland, Jase's mother, on Facebook, recounted how pleased his son was to receive a response from Royal Mail.

The letter explained how the delivery of mail to his father in heaven was a difficult but accomplished task.

"It has been a difficult challenge to avoid stars and other galactic objects en route to paradise," wrote Sean Milligan, deputy head of the delivery office.

"Royal Mail's priority is to have our customers' mail delivered safely – I know how important your mail is to you."

Jase was "moved" when he learned that the letter had been sent to his father, who died suddenly in 2014 at the age of 28.

"In fact, I can not say how emotionally he knows his father received his card," his mother wrote.

"It honestly means the world to him."

Teri shared the exchange on Facebook, thanking Royal Mail for doing its best to help his son.

"You have just restored my faith in humanity."

The message has since been shared nearly 200,000 times on Facebook.

Now, if Jase wants to write another letter to his father on his birthday, Royal Mail has already traced the route.

"I will continue to do everything in my power to ensure delivery to paradise safely."

In a tweet responding to public comments about their kindness to Jase, the Royal Mail said "our top priority is to make the faces of the community smile."
