The Gunners striker is the Premier League scorer this season and Wright thinks he can become one of the best
Ian Wright, Arsenal legend, thinks Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has everything he needs to become a great scorer of all time for the Gunners.
The Gabonese international striker joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in January for a club record. Since then, he has scored 20 goals in 31 games despite a portion of his left wing games.
He tackles Sunday the North London derby with Tottenham as the leader of the Golden Boot race this season, having scored eight Premier League goals so far this season – the same as the Manchester City Sergio duo Aguero and Raheem Sterling.
And Wright, who is Arsenal's second-leading scorer after Thierry Henry, is delighted with the way Aubameyang has left an immediate impact at Emirates Stadium, even though he's amazed at the pace with which the 29-year-old player finds the net.
"For now, scoring 20 goals in 31 games, he will be ranked number one," Wright said. Goal.
"He had a phenomenal start to his career at Arsenal. He has it on the left side, but for those who have not had a regular race in the team, his return to goal will score well in the goals table.
"The speed at which he scores is better than any of us. He had 20 goals in 31 games – that took me and Thierry 40. I thought that at that moment I was playing in every game, he was becoming a substitute player. If he can continue to score at this pace, he will probably be well in the ranks of goals. "
The Sunday match with the Spurs offers Arsenal the opportunity to move on equal points with Mauricio Pochettino's team and extend his unbeaten record in all competitions up to 19 games.
And Wright believes that the positive momentum the team created under Unai Emery could play a key role in their victory over their local rivals.
"Arsenals are improving," he said. "Just look at their record of last season. They scored more goals in the second half than anyone in games. It tells me that the Arsenals are not only stronger physically, but also stronger mentally.
"People can say what they want in the way they left for this undefeated 18-game game, but they are ready for this big test against Tottenham, just as they were against Liverpool. They are confident and have gained momentum.
"It is [Emery] do not rest on its laurels because you could be happy with 18 games. It seems to me that someone is still a work in progress. That's why he makes the decisions he makes for the team. Because he knows that they can get better and under him, I think they'll get better. "
Wright, for his part, recently created his own YouTube channel and is a strong advocate of using social media for healthy football debates.
"The platforms I'm currently working on are the ones I want to be on to express my opinion.

"What I like most is the personalization of the set and the feedback I get from people is that they are very engaged. I've always had a great affinity for fans.
"On a YouTube channel, you know you're going to have real debate and real questions."
