Avengers 4: Is Erik Selvig the key to losing Thanos?

According to a new theory of Avengers 4, Erik Selvig could be the unlikely key to defeating Thanos. Introduced in the Marvel cinematic universe by Thor (2011), Selvig is described by Stellan Skarsgård. Natalie Portman's astrophysicist and mentor, Jane Foster, was mentally controlled by Loki (thanks to Mind Stone) to Thor. We learned why in The Avengers.

The actor has signed a contract for five films with Marvel Studios. After Thor and The Avengers (2012), he also appeared in Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). He still has a movie to do with Marvel. The theory we are talking about here is advanced by a user called "mushbert" on Reddit.

According to him, the doodles of Selvig on the board in Thor: Dark World had an even greater meaning than we thought. Erik Selvig went crazy again in Thor: The Dark World and was admitted to an asylum.

In the institution, he writes disjointed words on a blackboard and seems to teach certain things to the inmates (one of whom is Stan Lee, who wants to get his shoe back). You can watch the scene from 2:17 below.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Mad Titan has destroyed half of the universe's life. Such an event may also have resulted in a tear in the structure of the universe.

There is also 'The Crossroads'. This may be a reference to gateways like Sakaar, a planet we saw in Thor: Ragnarok. If you remember, there were plenty of wormholes leading to different places and eventually to other realities. The voice of the computer explaining Sakaar to Thor stated, "Surrounded by cosmic footbridges, Sakaar lives on the edge of the known and the unknown."

616 Universe is a clear reference to the universe in which the main continuity of Marvel Comics takes place. There is also the Schrödinger cat, a thought experiment in which a scenario presents a cat that can be both alive and dead. This may involve Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange and others who are "dead" as a result of Thanos' snap. They could be in a situation similar to the ghost zone associated with the DC Comics Kryptonians. They can not be alive or dead inside the real core of soul.

The person who advanced this theory explains how Selvig knows all this: "The spirit stone gave him a tremendous amount of information. the battle of New York, all this information was too difficult to handle for his mind and it drove him crazy. Hence why no one gives it much more attention. However, it is clear that he will play an important role in the defeat of Thanos. "
