MANILA (2nd update) – A businessman was shot dead Wednesday night at the entrance of a hotel in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, police said.
Dominic Sytin, founder and chief executive of United Auctioneers Inc. (UAI), was shot in the head, according to a first report.
Sytin's bodyguard was also shot and transported to a nearby hospital.
Police Chief Arnold Cipriano of Olongapo City said the incident occurred after 8 pm.
According to witnesses, the shooter shot Sytin in the head and walked back to a motorcycle driven by an accomplice before the escape of the two attackers.

Lady Fighting Maroons, the women's volleyball team of the University of the Philippines, offered her condolences to Sytin's family.
"You are one of the reasons we will continue to fight, rest in peace and thank you, @UaiAuction CEO, Dom Sytin!" they wrote on Twitter.
The company Sytin is a corporate sponsor of the volleyball team.
UAI is one of the largest auction companies in the country. It has sold more than 125,000 units of various industrial, transportation and construction machinery to more than 48,000 foreign and local buyers.
Sytin founded the auction company in 1998, according to an April 2017 article in CEO Magazine.
He was a former UP student with a dual degree in Business Administration and Accounting. – with reports by Raoul Esperas
