CITY OF CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu City Health Bureau is coordinating with the Ministry of Education (DepEd) and barangays for their anti-dengue campaigns in schools and barangays.

Dr. Daisy Villa, City Public Health Officer, announced that she would write to the director of the Cebu School Division to authorize them to organize information campaigns for students. , to search for and destroy mosquito breeding sites carrying dengue fever and to carry out fogging operations.
Villa stressed the need for anti-dengue campaigns in schools because of the importance of protecting students, whose bodies are more likely to die from dengue because of their weaker immune system than most adults.
She added that schools should be cleared of potential mosquito breeding sites for dengue mosquitoes, so that these insects can not spread the disease.

For the barangays, Villa has already formed a working group on dengue composed of city health inspectors, who will be responsible for implementing dengue control measures in the villages of the city.
She added that members of the working group would be deployed in the barangays to search for and destroy mosquito breeding sites and recommend nebulization in the event of misting the area, if necessary.
She also said that she hoped that the city government could provide vehicles to the Dengue Task Force so that they could move faster in the barangays, all the more so since They could not yet rely on barangay health workers, who had not yet been fully activated by the government. the city government.
"For barangay health workers, we have not yet been able to exploit them because we are still waiting for reports of their achievements. We need to get these reports to make sure the workers are doing their job before they can deploy them again, "said Villa.
In the meantime, members of the task force have been deployed to inspect barangays and control or prevent the spread of dengue in the region.
On top of that, Villa is also asking the public to help her in her anti-dengue campaign by cleaning her own homes and environment to deter mosquitoes that carry dengue fever.
