MANILA – DNA samples taken from scissors allegedly used to kill Cebu teenager Christine Silawan matched those of the victim and the avowed suspect, Renato Llenes, police said on Wednesday.

Earlier, Llenes had claimed that he had killed Silawan while she was refusing to contact him after discovering his true identity.

Llenes said he was obsessed with the victim that he had met via Facebook, where he had used a fake account with the fake name CJ Diaz to hide his identity. He and Silawan met in person on March 10, one day before the victim was found dead, at the Sacred Heart Parish in Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City.

Llenes said that the teenager was away from him after expressing dismay during their meeting. He apparently continued until they reached a vacant lot in Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City, where the victim was stabbed several times.

The suspect said he flayed the victim's face with a pair of scissors to hide his identity. Police said they found the pair of scissors when Llenes was arrested on April 9 – report by Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
