The announcement was made by Emeritus Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Chairman of the Games Organizing Committee of Southeast Asia (Philippines), Philippines, at a conference release Wednesday in Pasay City.
"We are very happy, excited and honored to have sporting sports at the Eastern Games with Razer as a partner," said Cayetano. "Players are an important part of our community."
PhilSGOC and the Philippine Olympic Committee partnered with the Razer gaming equipment company to make sportsport a recognized sport for the medal at the regional biennial.

Esports in the SEA Games is accredited by the Asian Federation of Electronic Sports.
Six gold medals will be awarded to three gaming platforms: two for the console, two for the PC and two for the mobile.
As of the date of publication, only Mobile Legends: Bang Bang – a multiplayer online fighting arena game – has been confirmed as one of the games that will be played. The remaining titles are expected to be finalized by December 15.
