FILIPINO workers are the third most confident in Asia on their future prospects. They are on par with Chinese workers and behind their Indonesian and Indian counterparts, said LinkedIn, citing the results of an investigation.
According to the first LinkedIn Opportunity Index for the Asia-Pacific region, more than half of Filipino respondents defined their ideal opportunity as having their own business, while 44% said their idea of opportunities was better embodied by a job that offers a good professional life balance.
Some 37 percent of respondents said they defined an opportunity as training for new skills to prepare for automation and the so-called fourth industrial revolution, said the company's networking jobs.
LinkedIn's Managing Director for Asia-Pacific, Olivier Legrand, said Wednesday in a statement: "The initial goal of the LinkedIn Opportunity Index is to enable people in the Asia-Pacific region to better understand their aspirations, as well as the barriers that may be opposed to them. "
The study was conducted among 11,000 participants from Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.
"In an environment concerned about the impact of AI / automation and other changes in the work ecosystem, professionals also recognize that jobs are changing rapidly, they need to improve their skills to stay relevant, "said LinkedIn.
According to the LinkedIn Opportunity Index, 46% of Filipino respondents said financial constraints were an obstacle to their progression in life, while 24% were afraid of failure and 20% had a lack of self-confidence. – Gillian M. Cortez
