MANILA – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) advised foreign nationals residing in the country to report in person to the agency until March 1 to avoid paying fines or canceling their inscription.
Under the Aliens Registration Act of 1950, BI-registered aliens are required to report to the agency's main office in Intramuros, Manila, or at the office, satellite or office of the foreigners. Participant's nearest extension within 60 days of their creation.
"Two months is a long time, there is no reason for foreigners to miss the annual report, and those who do not comply will be punished," said the Commissioner. Immigration, Jaime Morente, in a statement.
BI-registered foreigners are resident foreign nationals holding an immigrant or non-immigrant visa and foreign registration certificate card holders.
Each alien must present his original ACR I-Card and valid passport, as well as pay a P300 annual report fee and P10 legal research fee in the annual report.
Foreigners who are out of the country during the annual reporting period may declare within 30 days of returning to the country, provided they have a valid re-entry permit, Morente added.
Foreigners under the age of 14 are exempt from personal appearance and their parent or guardian can make the report on their behalf. Seniors age 65 and over are also exempt, but must pay a fee and complete the form. – report by Mike Navallo, ABS-CBN News
