MANILA, Philippines – Cadet Gilas Pilipinas Troy Rike will return to the college basketball scene by joining the Bulldogs at the National University for the upcoming basketball season. Male UAAP ball.
"The school, the coach, the management and the players were so hospitable and they felt like home," he told Rappler during an exchange on Facebook.
"I was exploring my various basketball options here and I chatted with other schools, but after meeting coach Jamike (Jarin), the players and the management, I knew it was the right place for me. "
Rike is in the process of obtaining a master's degree in education.
The 6-foot-7 striker is immediately eligible for further competition since he is not an undergraduate transferee, which requires a period of residency.
Rike earned a college degree at Wake Forest University and was also part of the NCAA's School Division 1 team.

Rike, who flew to the country after being named a member of the Gilas Pool for the 2023 World Cup, alludes to joining the PBA project. But he said that he just wanted to play – a luxury that he did not appreciate after listing a total of 31 minutes throughout his stay with the demons deacons.

Rike went to the National consciousness when he broke the fight in the Gilas scuffle against Australia during a qualifying match at the FIBA World Cup on July 2.
