Imelda Marcos, Representative of the 2nd District of Ilocos Norte, who was sentenced, retired from the race for governor posts in their province, but lined up the son of the acting governor, Imee Marcos.

Imelda's office confirmed it on Thursday at INQUIRER.net. His grandson, Matthew Marcos Manotoc, a member of Ilocos Norte's 2nd District Council, will replace her.

The widow of the deceased dictator was convicted of seven counts of corruption by Sandiganbayan on November 9th.

The anti-corruption court ruled on seven cases involving Swiss accounts in which about $ 200 million had been channeled by Ms. Marcos while in various government positions during her husband's reign.

Marcos, who owns 3,000 pairs of luxury shoes, was sentenced to six to eleven years' imprisonment for each head of court.
