It would be a nice acquisition for us

Carmelo Anthony is anything but a Houston Rocket at this point. The veteran striker got his takeover with the Thunder from Oklahoma City this week, and the favorite to face him is the Rockets.

We are still waiting for everything to be official, but it looks like potential future Anthony teammates are excited to have Speaking to the media this week, NBA MVP James Harden has stated that he had the impression that Anthony was a good choice for the team that allowed the Golden State Warriors to qualify for the Western Final before losing Chris Paul.

"It would be a nice acquisition for us," said Harden, who met Anthony at Paris Fashion Week last month when Harden was touring with his teammate PJ Tucker. "Melo is a proven veterinarian.He just wants to win at this point, so it would be great for him to be in our team.The current alignment we have now, we have good guys and we continue to progress. "

It is not yet known how Carmelo will integrate the Houston offensive. The Rockets have lost Trevor Ariza to the Phoenix Suns this summer, and we will need more than 3 shooting points outside of Eric Gordon. Anthony shot 35.7% of the 3-point range last season, which is about the league average.

Even in an offense with a lot of isolation sets, Carmelo is not a home run. People make the mistake of thinking that the Rockets simply dribble the ball on the ground and then go head to head. This is not really the case.

The Rockets finished 13th in the NBA at the pace of last year and scored 1.2 points in the league lead in transition. Their isolation sets added to their transition attack, and even then many of their iso ball games were designed to create discordance audiences.

Anthony showed ability to be a good passer of his time in the NBA, although season with the Thunder, he recorded a career of two assists for 100 possessions. Many of his isolation games are geared towards Anthony to get an idea, so if Mike D's Antoni can convince him to work in the system is a big question going forward.

Anthony could be useful for the Rockets, there is no doubt about it. But what seems most likely, is that it could spoil the work for Houston, especially come the playoffs. The Rockets have to do something – or at least they feel they're doing it – to pass the Warriors this time around.
