Kat Tolentino of Ateneo named UAAP Player of the Week

MANILA, Philippines – Kat Tolentino's firepower could not be extinguished as it proved crucial for the Ateneo Lady Eagles' consecutive wins at the Women's 81 Volleyball Tournament of the season. UAAP last week.

The tournament's leading scorer scored 41 points against the UST Golden Tigresses and the Lady Tamaraws FEU, which earned her the title of Chooks-to-Go Player of the Week in the UAAP Press Corps.

Tolentino racked up 22 points against UST in a four-set win as Ateneo recovered from his early-season defeat against La Salle's Salle Salle Spikers.

She then resisted a slow start in a five-set win over FEU, scoring 19 points even though she only had 2 points in the first two sets.

Ateneo admitted fighting for the defense, but that did not stop Tolentino from catching up with his deadly attacks.

"For me, I realized that I could not stay there and turn the ball over or hit the light, I have to do everything, I have to sting with power and the way I normally do," said the Philippine-Canadian scorer.

Tolentino and the other Ateneo strikers will face the much-touted defense defense of the EU Lady Warriors, led by the best digger of season 80 and best receiver, Kath Arado, on Sunday (March 3rd) at Araneta Coliseum .
