Ateneo-Motolite quickly bounced back from a previous setback with a 25-23, 16-25, 25-14, 25-20 victory over Adamson-Akari on Sunday for a semifinal berth in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
Though still reeling from Saturday’s straight-set loss to the BanKo-Perlas Spikers, the Lady Eagles quickly went back to work for their 10th win in 13 games.
Maddie Madayag paced Ateneo with 15 points while Vanessa Gandler and Kat Tolentino combined for 21 kills to finish with 12 points each as the Lady Eagles became the first team to advance to the next round.
Adamson-Akari, meanwhile, kissed its semis bid goodbye as it plummeted to its 10th straight defeat.
In the other game, PetroGazz bolstered its semis bid with a 25-11, 25-23, 25-18 triumph over BanKo-Perlas.
The Angels pounced on the Perlas Spikers’ sloppy plays and weak service to improve to 6-5 at fourth.
BanKo-Perlas remained at third with 8-3.
At the Ibalong Center for Recreation in Legazpi City, Albay, Creamline also strengthened its semis campaign by outlasting tough Pocari Sweat-Air Force, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 15-9.
Alyssa Valdez pumped in 19 points while Jema Galanza and Michele Gumabao added 18 and 16 points for the Cool Smashers, who clinched their eighth win in 10 matches.
Pocari-Air Force fell to 5-6 at fifth despite Myla Pablo’s 22-point production.
