CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Lexi Thompson is spending a few weeks resting at the Women's British Open to recharge her emotions.
Thompson says in a post on Instagram the events of the past year and a half have taken a "huge toll" mentally and emotionally
The British Open in London will begin Aug. 2 at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.
Thompson says she's back to defend her title at the Indy Women in Tech Championship on August 16th. The American was penalized with four shots in the final round of the ANA Inspiration in 2017 for replacing her golf ball in the wrong place.
During the third round, she was docked with two more blows for signing an erroneous scorecard.
She also revealed that her mother was battling cancer, and Thompson announced last November that her mother was cancer free
Thompson says in her "I have not really felt like me since a lot of I take this time to recharge my mental batteries and concentrate on professional golf. "
His last victory was in Indianapolis last September.
