Mariel de Leon seems to want to stand out from the show scene in light of a statement she's recently made on social media.
De Leon, who represented the country under the name Miss International Philippines 2017, explained today, November 28, in Instagram Stories, why she would prefer not to be called a beauty queen.
"II would be grateful if you would stop tagging me in the pageant publications (especially if it does not even engage me), "she said. "I do not like to be called" beauty queen. "That means nothing to me." Women are not a title that society chooses to "name." Women are so much more than that. "
She said that although she is grateful for her pageant experience and the opportunities she has derived from it, she has "closed this chapter of my life."
"I'm not one to be interested in titles, positions, crowns or names. None of this matters to me, "she said. "What matters to me is my family, my dogs, art and classical music."
She continued, "I do not want to surround myself with toxic, negative, and false people." She did not mention whether these people were also involved in the industry's pageant competitions.
"I like to lead a simple, quiet and private life – unless I post something on my social networks," she said. "I choose what to show you. You do not see everything in my life.
She also wrote on Twitter about some tips she found unsavory to become famous: "You need a showbiz personality! Dapat maging plastic ka (You should be fake)!
"It was a" council "given by a person," she revealed. "If I have to be like that just to succeed in this industry … Nah. No thanks. I'm outside."
