Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) confirmed this information. He said he had received the order from Sandiganbayan, but had not yet implemented the 90-day preventive suspension order.

"We will serve it as soon as SILG (Secretary of the Interior and Local Government) signs the order of implementation," Malaysia said in an SMS on Monday, June 17.

"[T]Preventive suspension is not a punishment … Given the public policy of pre-emptively suspending an official charged with valid information, the protection of the public interest will definitely prevail over the private interest of the accused " said the Sandiganbayan division in its press release May 22 resolution drafted by Presiding Judge Amparo Cabotaje-Tang.

Feast talked about the sinking incident that nearly killed 22 of his fishermen voters. He called on President Rodrigo Duterte to rule against China.

The boat of the 22 fishermen was sunk and abandoned on June 9 by a Chinese fishing boat near the Recto Bank (Reed Bank) in the Western Philippines Sea. They were rescued by a Vietnamese fishing boat.
