CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – In the province of Misamis Oriental, the Criminal Investigations and Investigations Group (CIDG) has arrested at least 10 people, including two members of the mayor's family in the town of Claveria, for the ban on firearms and illegal possession of firearms during a morning roundup Tuesday.
Those arrested included Reggan Salvaleon, 36, and Gertrudes Salvaleon, 66, both of whom were linked to the mayor of Claveria, Meraluna Salvaleon-Abrogar; Mario Pagara, 49 years old; and Christopher Pagara, 39; According to the police report, six other people would be members of the geographic unit of the civil auxiliary force (Cafgu).
According to the report, the CIDG allegedly carried out this operation by relying on two search warrants for violation of the laws of the Republic No. 10591 and No. 9516 at Salvaleon's home in Purok 2, Centro, Barangay Malagana, Claveria and Misamis Oriental.
The suspects seized three .45 caliber pistols, two M14 rifles, four M16 rifles, one KG9 submachine gun and hundreds of live ammunition.
Police said the young Salvaleon would be the leader of the Salvaleon group that would be involved in land grabbing.
In a radio interview, Salvaleon-Abrogar reportedly stated that his mother and brother did not own the firearm. She added that the high-powered firearms belonged to the Cafgus and that the pistols were worn by the Pagaras. (Editor: Leti Z. Boniol)
