The Cignal HD Spikers and Cocolife Asset Managers are looking to bounce back from their debut game losses when they lock horns in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) All Filipino Conference 2018 on Saturday.

Both coming off from straight-set beatings, the HD Spikers and Asset Managers will try to capture their first victory and avoid a possible two-game skid when they clash at the Ynares Sports Complex in Pasig, at 7 p.m.

Before the Cignal-Cocolife match, the Foton Tornadoes and Generika Ayala Lifesavers will take on each other at 5 p.m. after the conference’s official opening ceremony, which starts at 4 p.m.

Cocolife looked to be in total disarray when they were swept by the defending champions Petron Blaze Spikers, 18-25, 15-25, 18-25, in their opening game last Tuesday.

After two dismal sets, the Asset Managers seemed to have finally found their rhythm when they edged Petron, 7-1, in the third set.

But the Moro Branislav-mentored squad squandered the six-point lead as the Blaze Spikers made a 13-1 run to take back the momentum and win the match in three sets.

Cignal didn’t fare any better in their debut assignment as they bowed to heavyweight F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, 25-16, 25-19, 25-19.

Plagued by errors, the HD Spikers have no solution to F2’s well-oiled arsenal despite starting every set strong.

The Edgar Barroga-backed squad’s errors made it easy for the Cargo Movers to take the game as Cignal committed 25 errors compared to F2’s 12.

Expected to lead their respective teams are Fil-Am outside hitter Kalei Mau for Cocolife and lefty hitter Mylene Paat for Cignal.

Making her highly-anticipated debut, Mau was the lone bright spot for Cocolife the last timeout as she dropped 13 hits off 11 kills, two aces and a block laced with 11 digs.

Meanwhile, Paat tallied eight kills, three blocks and an ace for a 12-point output for Cignal on a losing effort.

Another interesting match-up is between libero Denden Lazaro and Jheck Dionela, who racked up 26 digs and 17 digs, respectively, for their squads.
