Renders gave us an idea of what to expect from the so-called edge-to-edge display, but that's potentially under the hood that really sets the Galaxy S10 apart. According to reports, at least one of the four variants is hosting an unprecedented amount of memory, supposedly going to double digits.
The flagship smartphones have recently hit the shelves with up to 8GB of RAM. However, GF Securities, a Chinese company of market analysis and market research, indicates that all this could change with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S10, via ITHome. A version could contain 12 GB of RAM, but also 1 TB of built-in storage.
Since the average flagship memory is still 6 GB, the probability that this single report retains water is slim. That said, with its recent Galaxy Note 9, Samsung has every interest in expanding its storage and storage capabilities. Not only does the phablet offer the current maximum memory of 8GB, but its 512GB of built-in storage can be combined with a memory card, making the world's first 1TB handset.
Competition is also intensifying in the memory sector, as Chinese rival Oppo has managed to certify one of its Find X models as the world's first smartphone with 10 GB of RAM. This does not necessarily confirm the inner workings of Samsung, but presents some possibilities. If the research firm is right, it is quite possible that Samsung limits the diffusion of this high-end model to specific markets. It is therefore advisable to potential buyers not to throw their money on the screen for the moment.
Samsung will unveil more about its Galaxy S10 range at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, February 25-28, 2019.
