The Sandiganbayan on Friday allowed former First Lady Imelda Marcos to bail and enjoy temporary freedom while the court ruled on appeal for seven corruption cases.
The Fifth Sandiganbayan Division ordered Marcos to pay a deposit "double the amount of his initial bond," which was 150,000 pesos on November 16, bearing his bail at 300,000 pesos.

The court clerk also stated that Marcos had 15 days to avail himself of the corrective measures rendered after conviction under the rules of procedure.
"Ms. Marcos had 15 days to take corrective action after the conviction under the settlement, namely, the filing of a motion for reconsideration or a notice of appeal," said the Registrar. of the court.
Marcos was allowed to file an application for reconsideration before the Anti-Corruption Tribunal or to appeal directly to the Supreme Court (SC) via a notice of appeal to Sandiganbayan.
In some parts of the resolution communicated to the media, the anti-corruption court noted Marcos' "inconsistencies" in the reason that she was absent when her corruption cases were promulgated.
Marcos claimed earlier that she was not informed of the timing of the promulgation, but she also stated that she was not able to attend the meeting in because of health problems.
The court said, however, that Marcos' reasons for not attending the promulgation "coupled by his surrender to the Court annul a stubborn challenge on his part to the judicial process".
The court took note of Marcos' explanation that she was not able to attend because she "did not really know" that there was an enactment planned.
The court also took note of Marcos' testimony stating that "even though I was sick, I would have come here because that is the law".
"Such statements invite clemency of the court, considering that in the process, Ms. Marcos has surrendered and placed herself within the purview of the law," said the court, citing the resolution.
"Criminal laws are favorable to the accused, justice on the merits requires that Ms. Marcos be reinstated in the court and recognized his right to appeal against the judgment of his conviction," reads in the resolution.

Marcos was convicted on November 9 for seven counts of corruption, because of his involvement in the transfer of funds to Swiss foundations while he held various positions.
