More than 71 sellers of Bacolod firecrackers have obtained a special permit allowing them to present their products in the area of ​​the firecrackers behind the Pope John Paul II tower, in the area of ​​recovery.

Ernie Pineda, assistant market coordinator and market supervisor, said on Friday, Dec. 14 that the 71 vendors were to build their booths in the firecrackers area after obtaining the documents for their special permits.

"They must first build their stands, and then their documents will be forwarded to the Bacolod City Police Bureau (BCPO) for approval by the Regional Police Office – Western Visayas," he said.

On Thursday, the Fire Protection Bureau (BFP) has already inspected 45 stands in the firecrackers area to ensure compliance with fire safety, he added.

Pineda said the firecracker vendors had also participated in the fireworks safety seminar organized by the Philippine Association of Manufacturers and Distributors of Fireworks and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in August and October .

Pineda said the PNP and the local government unit have a policy of selling only firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices to those who have attended a seminar on fireworks safety.

On 29 October, President Rodrigo Duterte issued Memorandum No. 31 directing the PNP and other relevant agencies to strictly enforce the laws, rules and regulations in force regarding the sale, manufacture, distribution and sale of goods. use of firecrackers and pyrotechnics.

Pineda said vendors selling outside the identified firecracker area would be penalized and their products confiscated.

He added that the monitoring team, as well as the BFP and the OPCB, would be deployed in various areas to confiscate illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics.

Sellers of firecrackers can exhibit their products until December 31st.
