Simmons and Sixers Beat Pacers

Ben Simmons had a timely double-double as the Philadelphia 76ers claimed their first win of the NBA season, hanging tough to beat Indiana 100-94.

The Australian point guard contributed 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for the Sixers, who came out of the match having won all of their first six home games, while dropping their previous five on the road.

Victor Oladipo, who had a game-high 36 points.

But Philadelphia had a lot better spread of scorers, with Simmons just one of half a dozen Sixers in double figures.

In other action, not even a season-high haul of 20 points from Australian guard Patty Mills was enough to prevent the San Antonio Spurs suffering a 95-88 loss to the Miami Heat.

Mills came off the bench to shoot eight of 21 from the field for a team-high tally of 20 points and received good support from Davis Bertans (19) and DeMar DeRozan (18).

But the Heat is on Wednesday, led by center Hassan Whiteside, who racked up 29 points, 20 rebounds and nine blocked shots.

It was Miami's first win over San Antonio in four years.

Andre Drummond had 23 points and 19 rebounds and Griffin Blake chimed in with 20 points as the Detroit Pistons beat the Magic Orlando 103-96 for their first win six games.

Evan Fournier led Orlando with 27 points.

Dennis Schroder scored a season-high 28 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder extended their winning run to six with 95-86 away winners against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Oklahoma City were playing Russell Westbrook, who turned his left on Monday in the New Orleans Pelicans win.
