ZAMBOANGA CITY – The local government, through the city health office, continues to monitor measles and dengue fever closely, with cases continuing to be reported in this city.

Dr. Annie Rose Amar, of the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the City (CESU), said Tuesday that the declaration of the measles outbreak was still in effect and that cases were still reported.

Amar added that they could not lift the status of the outbreak since three cases of measles were recorded in the last three weeks, bringing the total number of reported cases to 495 since January of this year. year.

"We have to have zero cases in the last three weeks," she said.

She added that they had also recorded a growing number of dengue cases since September this year.

Amar said the data collected showed that dengue cases for September, October and November were higher than those reported the previous year, covering the same months.

She said 208 cases of dengue fever were recorded in September this year, up 99 percent from the 109 reported in the same month last year.

For October of this year, she reported having recorded 155 dengue cases compared to 88 cases last October.

According to Amar, 94 cases of dengue have been reported so far in November this year, compared with 90 cases reported the same month last year.

She added that they are constantly monitoring the situation, although registered measles and dengue cases are still below epidemic and alert thresholds. (PNA)
