MANILA – Providing a fast Internet connection, even at sea, is essential to attract Millennials to the cruise tourism market, said Tuesday a manager of one of the world's largest cruise operators.

Angie Stephen, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Caribbean International for the Asia-Pacific region, said the company was optimistic about the growth of the cruise tourism market in Asia, especially among younger customers.

"We really see people finding this interesting as an interesting vacation option because it's new, glamorous and ambitious," said Stephen in an exclusive interview with The Boss of ANC.

She added that the company was innovating to offer more equipment such as indoor skydiving, flow-ride surfing and indoor wall climbing to satisfy a wider customer base.

But the broadband Internet connection is the key to the millennium, she said, who must always keep in touch.

"So we always see them buying our wifi packages," said Stephen.

"These are all intragrammable moments, they are looking for those unique experiences they can boast about with their friends," she added.

Royal Caribbean operates some of the largest cruise ships in the Asia Pacific region and is scheduled to visit Boracay, Subic, Manila and Ilocos next year.
