"We would prefer to reserve our point-by-point rebuttal to questions raised by the Alliance of Concerned Teachers at the appropriate forum at the most appropriate time," said the Chief Superintendent of the PNP. Benigno Durana Jr. said in a statement Thursday.
"However, I am surprised at the relevance of questioning the wisdom of state policy set out in the country's basic law," he said.
Durana affirmed that the PNP was mandated to enforce the law and guarantee peace and order in the country.

The PNP had previously stated that the intelligence operation was intended to identify the teachers who support the communist movement. PNP chief executive Oscar Albayalde also said that Jose Maria Sison, founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines, called ACT one of its legal fronts.
