Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has been associated with a move to Chelsea over the past few weeks, but it seems that Arsenal holds the advantage with regard to his signing.
The 20-year-old has made a strong impression in Ligue 1 since the start of the first team at the Groupama stadium in February 2017, and several of the top European clubs have been mentioned for a change in his services.
Liverpool is believed to be very attached to Aouar and would have followed him for over a year now.
According to reports that Maurizio Sarri is "desperate" to attract the youngster to West London, RMC Sport in France claims that the Blues have "supervised" him in recent weeks and that he "has not been able to". it is part of the "good books" of the manager for the future.
But could the attacking midfielder be tempted by another club in the capital?
Well, previous comments on Gunners striker Alexandre Lacazette allowed the youngster to make a transfer to the Emirates Stadium if the opportunity arose.
"I started training with the pros two years ago," Aouar told The Associated Press, as reported by the Daily Mirror. "Lyon already had a young team at the time, not as young as this year, but there were still a lot of young players, players from the youth team.
"I was lucky, I had a lot of help, Alexandre Lacazette took me under his wing."
"Alex talked a lot, pointed out the tasks I had to work on, especially the finishes, and we worked a lot on that.
"Mapou Yanga Mbiwa was also important to me, and he still is, I talk to him a lot, and the fact that you have these best players in charge really helps you."
As Aaron Ramsey is about to leave Arsenal by next summer, he will have to be replaced and Unai Emery is expected to sign one of the links with Pablo Fornals of Villarreal and Juan Mata of Manchester United in recent weeks.
But could he turn to Aouar? If this is the case, Lacazette could play an important role in persuading the midfielder to join him at Emirates.
