Ria Meneses of Generika-Ayala vs Shya Adorador and Maica Ortiz of Foton

Foton survived Generika-Ayala, 20-25, 25-21, 25-14, 19-25, 15-5, to launch his campaign at the Filipino Superliga All-Filipino conference on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Mina Aganon finished with 20 points, while Maika Ortiz added 12 while the Tornadoes have a 1-0 defeat record – equalizing Smart, Petron and F2 Logistics to the top half of this prestigious women's tournament sponsored by Isuzu. Sogo, Senoh, Asics, Mikasa, Mueller, UCPB Gen and Bizooku.

Foton played without sisters Dindin and Jaja de Santiago, but team captain Ortiz said it was not a heavy burden for the team.

"As a leader, it's not really a challenge for me because every member of the team really contributes a lot," Ortiz said.

"We can not always say that we do not have Dindin and Jaja, we have to wear ourselves instead of the team," added Aganon. "We have to use what we have in our team right now."

Foton capitalized on Generika-Ayala's seven errors in the fifth set and a total of 42 errors in the two-hour, 12-minute match.

Fiolla Ceballos opened the way for Generika-Ayala with 21 points, while Patty Orendain gad 14 and captain Angeli Araneta scored 14.

During the Grand Slam of the PSL Collegiate of the University of Santo Tomas, Colegio San Agustin-Biñan was warmly welcomed by the newcomer. He suffered a defeat in two sets, 25-12, 25-13, 25-10.

Tots Carlos led the University of the Philippines to deny the University of East, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 31-29.
